MY APPROACH

LISTEN

Most of us don’t listen very well. We might think we do but it’s very likely that many of us don’t.

To listen properly requires focus. It requires the listener to give their fullest attention. It requires the listener to give the speaker time and space.

Listening like this shows respect, allowing you uninterrupted time to think, which in turn positively influences the quality of your thoughts, often enabling you to express ideas from that deeper place where the conscious mind seldom goes during normal conversation.

Nowadays business has become very fast paced. There is hardly time to sit down and truly listen. Often we only listen to respond, and frequently we have already made up our minds and judgment is in place.

By offering this focused level of listening, I can create the space you need, be the thought catalyst and guide you to find solutions.​

CHALLENGE

Challenge can have many different meanings. Often challenge is perceived as negative, as something difficult. However, there is another view which is that challenge is positive, it presents an opportunity and it is not something to fear or be threatened by.

One cannot grow or improve without challenging the status quo. I don’t challenge just for the sake of challenging. I challenge for the sake of clarity, to help you discover the real thoughts and ideas. It is my way of holding a mirror in front of you. There is no benefit for you working with an external partner who just says yes, who just goes along with your thoughts; that brings no value.

I challenge you, your teams and your organizations to ensure we get to the root of the discussion, to bring you back to your authentic core and to provide you with a different perspective.

CLARITY

Without clarity you and your teams cannot move forward to achieve your goals. Do you understand the issue? Do you know the root cause? Where do you want to go? Do you know what the end goal is? What is in your control and what is not? What has worked well? Who is on board and who is not? Who do you want to go with you? What would the perfect outcome look like if you achieved all your goals? Do you have the skills and expertise to get there?

These are all broad questions, with many possible answers. We operate within a rapidly changing world, with many diverse inputs impacting our professional lives. Without going through the process of analysing what is really important to you, identifying the critical items, being able to articulate them and then being able to clearly communicate them to your team or peers the risk of distraction or derailing is very high.

By focusing on obtaining that clarity, you and your teams will quickly be able to identify a path to achieving your goals, as well as being able to observe and side-step the inevitable distractions.

IMPACT

The word “impact” has become very popular in recent times, particularly as regards “impact investing” and businesses having a greater impact on the environment around them rather than just financial results.

The impact I refer to is similar in that it reflects a matching of your personal and business goals to create a solid action plan in which you are fully, personally invested. This less conflicted platform allows you the additional freedom to explore new areas whilst at the same time the increased focus enables better decision making, clearer actions leading to improved results. I believe that a change will only be made if you and your teams are convinced that this is the right thing to do.

This impact is thus both on a personal and business level.
